Click on the images below to see a larger version. 30th August to 5th September 2004 Four days of hot work on the roof - mainly getting rafters up along the easiest piece of
roof. We're using a nailed gusset method of attaching the rafters together and attaching them to attic joists - each eaves joint requiring about 40 nails so a Plaslode nail gun was an invaluable
hire. The end of the week saw 14 pairs of rafters in place. Other work was to get the attic walls and gables blocked up (as much as possible), placing more attic joists and putting more stone up.
The main thing this week was dealing with the fact that I didn't have enough knowledge about how to build the roof - a few phone calls and looking at a few books have given some info - we'll see what happens
