20th to 26th September 2004

This week cracked on with work on the roof - we got the back section up (and used lines!) and started work on the overhanging verges.  At this point we discovered that the top sections of scaffolding clashed with the verges so when the blocking is done we'll remove those sections and work from a small tower to finish off.

We have also amended the approved plans - there was a flase chimney structure over the front door and from the lane to the house I was concerned that this was going to look too big so the planners allowed us to change this to a hipped roof perpendicular to the main roof.

Talking of the main roof work began cutting firrings (angled fillets of wood) to bring the roof back into true...yes it would have been easier to get it right first time.
