Click on the images below to see a larger version. 18th to 24th October 2004 Well most of the battening has been finished - despite wind and rain and we are also waiting for
the flat roof to be covered. The flat roof has more of a storey - last week we had to add to the upstand - well we did that in half a day on Monday and yes it is close to the ridge but we should be
able to deal with that - however the fitters came to measure and saw the Velux and the low pitch and basically said no way. The solution was to cut channels in the roof to form a gutter preventing
water from hitting the Velux and shedding it off the edge of the roof. Plus they felt copper might be easier to deliver a quality result rather than steel - so that's what we've done - built the
gutters and gone for copper. This was then finished off by nailing a lead flashing around the edge of the roof that will sit under the drip edge of the flat roof covering and sit on top of the slates.
Other stuff has all been associated with roof - getting the verges in place - interesting but not too bad - most interesting bit trying to get the levels across the roof correct! Painting fascia boards and
yet more stoning.. In one of the wet spells I was also looking at the windows - Vrogum supplied from Vitek Windows - the more I see them the more I am impressed - they really are going to look the Dog's
dodahs when they are installed. |
