Click on the images below to see a larger version. 13th to 19th September 2004 Rain delayed a lot of work this week but we still managed to get a lot done on the internal
walls in the roof, finish off the main set of rafters - discover they were well out (60mm in some cases) correct the worst ones and develop a plan to correct the others (using firrings running up the
rafters). Handy tip no 1 - always use a line to make sure the rafter sets are in line and don't run it at the wall plate level but rather near the top of the pitch.
Spent some time cutting the rafters for the rear section of the roof and got one set up. Decided to cover the roof with tarps just to keep them drier as this seems to be extending for some time!!
Amazing what limited knowledge and skill will do for your schedules. Friday we got a 6t digger in and ripped through the pile of rubble from the old cottage pulling out about 25t of stone to use on the
house - hindsight (as usual) showed that we should have done this months ago to make life so much easier!! Oh well - when I've finished building this house I will know how to build a house.
Tired, jaded and really want to get the roof finished.......... |
