4 flavours to this week - insulation for UFH (which now covers all of the top floor and 95% of
the ground floor), laying UFH pipes (all of the top floor and 25% of the ground floor), remedial work on some leaks in the basement and drains outside.
The UFH was fairly easy - the levels of insulation mean that
there isn't that much pipe to go in - however the sticky clips we are using did need a dab of gripfix to keep them in place - maybe the boards were too dusty but some popped up.
The remedial work came from poor
compacting when laying the concrete filling of the wall and meant cutting off the inner block, and replacing with waterproofed concrete - noisy and hard work - but at least the basement was cool! With hindsight I
would now build the basement slightly differently - I would build a single block outer skin and then shutter for the inner wall and pour concrete direct - missing off the inner leaf of blocks. This would have
enabled much better vibrating without worry about the walls popping.
Outside we're ripping everything about laying drains, water pipes and so on - all great fun - never know what is going to be outside the door you're
stepping out of!!
