3 flavours this week - a) getting everything finished and ready for screeding, b) filling
in time c) screeding.
Finishing off meant running pipe in the basement, connecting and testing manifolds and generally tidying up.
Filling in time was cutting the 300mm dia twinwall pipe in half
lengthways, slotting them and drilling holes in them, then drilling holes in the 50mm pipe. Sounds odd and most probably is but the idea is called a shallow infiltration system and will be used to
drain waste 'water' from the septic tank into the ground. Similar to a herringbone but more efficient and only 600mm deep. The big pipe halfs go in to make an arch with the smaller pipe dangling
from the top of the arch.... more pics when we put some in place (maybe!). As well as that we eventually fitted the downpipes into the drains with slipsockets.
Screeding - 3 floors, fortunately with a
screed pump - thanks to Avon Plant Repairs - and loads of work from Steve and Rich. As ever 1st day's delivery went smoothly and the second hadn't arrived by 8.45am so a call to the depot 'Oh, we're
just about to load him' followed by 'Well don't bother because you arriving on site with 11.5t of screed at 11am is as much use as a chocolate teapot' or similar words. Screeding itself went OK - the
first couple of batches seemed to go off very quickly and the pump tended to block if it was too dry (40m of 6" pipe dancing around like an angry snake when it eventually cleared itself). But then I deserted
ship and took a couple of days off.....
