Click on the images below to see a larger version. 24th to 30th May 2004 Reality hits! The rapid rise of the ground floor walls continues but the slow slog of other
tasks kicks off. The main tasks being backfilling around the basement - something that will include a lot of manual effort as we can't get machines where we need them, preparation work for concreting
in the cavity of the retaining wall at the back of the ground floor, prep work for the slab of the draught lobby by the back door and so on. Also we've been getting quotes for scaffolding and this has
focussed my mind as to what we need to get done whilst the scafolding is up - first floor beams, walls, loft joists, roof, windows, external insulation, rendering, stone elevations - all within 8 weeks
initial charge for the scaffolding and £100 per week for each extra week..... But for the meanwhile walls go up, lintels get bought, steel is purchased to go above the windows and so on. |
