Started the week putting up the glulam beam over the rear draught lobby - 10
minutes later we were working out how best to rebuild the blockwork pier that I had been doubting the strength of last week... I'd clouted it with my shoulder.
We worked out a solution that included steel rods inside
the blocks and a few other strenghtening measures - hopefully next time it will stay up and we wont know till next week.
As well as rebuilding this section we also finished off the gable end of the wall around the
back lobby.
Next was running ventilation pipe around the house - using distribution boxes made of Kingspan - not all in place but as much as we can before the insulation is installed as the pipes will be in the way.
Then we tryed putting the vent strips beneath the windows - this will be needed as the cavity behind the render will need ventilating - the strips I'm using are designed for roofs but a quick few coats of paint (they
were black to start with) and they don't look too bad - well the eventual proof will be when we have the render in place. I've decided to use K-Rend with a through colour to avoid painting.
With those jobs out
of the way we got on with attaching timbers to clips hanging from the concrete beams in the gound floor - it all seems to be rushing ahead again.
We fiinished off the week with making sure we have enough screws in the
insulated board in the loft and removing those panels in the loft where the insulation will be blown in.
A busy week with loads of smallish jobs on the go - more next week I thinkl
