8th to 14th March 2004

Having laid blocks on the previous Saturday the first thing to do was wait for them to cure.  So some prep work, some tidying up but nothing till Tuesday.

I'd also had a call from one of my labourers saying he wasn't able to work this week - plus I had lined up 2 loads of concrete one for Tuesday and one for Friday and increased the amount in each, plus I needed to get hold of a small vibrating poker to compact the concrete after being reminded of the need of doing this by the NHBC rep.

So come Tuesday 2.5m3 of mix arrive with just me on site (for the first 5 minutes!) and shovelling muck seems like a blessed relief after the running around of the last couple of days.  As it happens it all goes sweet as pie, so much so that we actually think we've been short loaded on the mix until we check my rubbish calculations - opps!

Next load arrived Thursday and the end of the concrete is almost in view.  Saturday sees the last of the blocks needed to be laid prior to the final pour of waterproof concrete so we will see what happens - and oh yes we had about 6" of snow on Friday just to spice things up!!  Oh for a boring life...
