more backfill behind the walls - although given my past performance on overfilling we were very cautious - undoubtedly I'll be cursing having to finish off by hand in a few weeks! We also started sorting out the
reusable stone from the spoil of the old cottage as we'll need this when we start on the ground floor and as this is rather hard, dull work we did a couple of days now to avoid having a solid couple of weeks on this one
task at a later date. At the end of the week the remaining walls went up to the height needed for padstones and steel. Lintels went up over some of the doorways. Some reinforcement to go in next week and
then concrete - all very deja vu. This week's sillies - forgetting to order one steel beam last week, making the doorframe formers 25mm too wide, telling the blocklaying to leave a gap for a padstone just after he had
laid the block! The good news was that the RMC Floors rep eventually came around on Friday and there is only a 10 day lead time on the beams. |
