22nd to 28th March 2004

A slower week in terms of visible changes.

The two walls perpendicular to the house, outside of the garage have been ignored until now - so footings were dug out, steel placed and concrete poured this week.  This sounds fairly straight forward but we had a drain running down both sides so the ground was rather wet and the holes ended up quite deep - however after a day or so of digging we got the concrete in and all sorted!

One slight down side was that we needed a 3m lenght of pipe to do this and when putting the pipe in the back of the landrover I discovered a tad too late that the windscreen is just shorter - crack, oops!

Having got the internal walls in place we were able to finalise the steel needed.  We also discovered that steel prices have been rising and are still rising - our preferred supplier was also very busy and could not start the order for 4 weeks.  A few phone calls later and a new supplier was found quoting a very similar price.  A quick visit found them very helpful and able to work on our order straight away - so far looks very good.

The main irritation this week has been trying to catch the RMC Floors rep to help us measure the floor beams and get them ordered - we've been trying for 3 days and will try again on Monday.
