Wednesday we placed the final 3m3 of concrete into the cavities. I was very happy to take the vibrating poker back to the hire shop and most importantly this opened up the way to start building the
internal walls as we were using the digger to bring concrete upto trestles to then shovel from the digger's bucket into the walls. With the concrete in place the internal walls started - 140mm blocks are
big and heavy - very glad it wasn't me laying them 9 courses high in the rain! At the end of the week walls are up and the next thing is to check the measurements for steel and floor beams and get them
ordered. However one thing we did catch last week was that the planned garage arrangement wouldn't have allowed us to get the Land Rover into the garage - Doh! Good job we caught that one before we
built it! |
