It has been very nice to have the heating in place - an understatement
if ever there was one this week - it was bitter outside most mornings but nice and toasty inside!
In that comfort we finished the tiling in the bathroom - both walls and floors and started fitting the loo, bidet and
basin. Nothing too tricky apart for needing a pet octopus to fit the bidet - the space is tiny. We did have one fun job - fitting the electric towel rails that needed 6 holes into the floors each - after
about 4 dead drill bits we realised the floor tiles were significantly harder than we had anticipated - we'll see how we get around that one next week.
As well as the bathroom we laid some additional leveller on the
landing ready for final finishing - the glue we're going to use to stick timber needs a really level base. We also popped a few bits of architrave up around the doors - makes them look really different.
Downstairs the
stone floor continued to go down and we cleaned up 3 rooms and started treating them with impregnator to stop staining - we're using Fila MP90 - very easy to apply - it's just damned hard work getting the floor clean in
the first place.
In addition we had the last few square metres of plastering finished off so there is no more to be done - hurrah! And outside we dug holes for the septic tank, dosing chamber (more on this when it's
built), back filled the heating coils, dug and laid a conduit for the telephone cable, dug out some footings for a retaining wall and dug out for the steps to the front door.
A busy and productive week - next week more floors and onto the kitchen.
