Yet more finishing jobs - door bells, scrubbibg and waxing the stone floors, plinth and
pelmets in the kitchen and so on.
The more interesting jobs were fitting the kitchen worktops - stainless steel made for us locally by Peter Neale. They look great and so far haven't been too tricky.
Compared with the mob you see in all of the self build mags we've saved about three times the amount we've paid by having it made locally!!
The other 'interesting' job this week was fitting the satellite
dish. Build a scaff tower, struggle a bit getting the large pole into place, plug everything together and..... nothing works. As anyone with a 6 and a 7 year old knows a constant supply of TV is
a requirement - as the house is in a nice deep valley terrestrial TV is a non-starter so we had to get the dish up and running. Frustratingly we managed to get some channels for about 5 mins but then
it all went again. At this point we remembered the old adage 'when the going gets tough the tough get someone in who knows what they're talking about and stop being cheapskates'....... 15 mins later
nice man in van leaves with addict kids getting fix of rubbish. Peace returns to happy valley!
