1st to 7th May 2006

Having got the floors partly sealed last week we concentrated this week on getting the first floor skirting boards and doorways finished off - which we did!! Fitting the skirts, painting, gunning around them, architrave, door stops, touching up paint etc etc etc.

As well as this the lining for the stair opening was made and fitted - this again is chestnut and needed some planks to be joined before fitting- the opeing of the stairs was 400mm deep so it needed a chunk to cover it. Work also started on the proper stair treads - 50mm thick chestnut - about 5 of these ready but some more need joining so this will run for some more time before being finished.

Outside work continued on the septic tank - now fully backfilled, the dosing chamber - ditto, the steps to the front door -progressing well and the hardstanding outside the back door and garage which has been cleaned up and covered with type 1 sub-base as a medium term solution till we work out what to do there!

This week also saw my main help Danny going off travelling for 6 months so jobs may well take longer.......
