 12th to 18th December 2005

It wasn't quite as busy as I had hoped but maybe next week will be!

Most of the week went on painting, electrics (sockets, downlighters, consumer units, and light fittings), soffits and bargeboards for the rear draught lobby roof and starting to prep for the installation of the stairs from the basement to the ground floor.

One of the major, major steps forward was getting all of the top floor lights sorted out so we could use a plug at the consumer unit to test them all from an extension lead.  This was very interesting as we have used 9w compact fluorescent GU10 downlighter fittings and I wasn't totally sure how much light they would give compared to the normal 35 and 50w halogens.  In the end we ran all upstairs lights on a 3A fuse and the quantity of light was great - slightly to much in some cases!

It was great to get delivery of the thermal store and mains pressure hot water tank from Newark Cpper Cylinders - the thermal store (made to meet our requirements with no major drama or problems) is HUGE - about 2m tall - the picture doesn't do it justice but it really is a water tank on steroids.

The other fun job was getting 50m of draw cord through 50m of conduit for the electricity supply to the house - suffice to say I was very happy we only had 50m to do!
